Fish & Numbered Lakes Recreation Management PlanProject Date: 2006 Project DescriptionThe Matanuska-Susitna Borough worked with Agnew::Beck Consulting and the local Parks Advisory Committee to develop a Recreation Management Plan for Borough land south of Talkeetna (see map below). This plan prepares policies for the use, development and protection of these parcels, which are reserved for park and recreation use. It focuses on the use of Matanuska-Susitna Borough land, but takes into account the use of affected adjoining private property. The process included an initial scoping meeting and several public workshops. The plan was adopted by the Matanuska-Susitna Assembly on May 15, 2007.
This project looks at two sets of Borough parcels: Public ParticipationCommunity Workshop #3 Community Workshop #2 PublicationsFish and Numbered Lakes Recreation Management Plan: Round 4: December Draft (November-December 2006)

See the workshop notes above for a summary of this workshop. Fish, Numbered and Question Lakes Area Recreation Management Plans: Issues and Preliminary Recommendations (March 2006)
April 19 was the end of the public comment period on the March draft, titled 'Issues and Preliminary Recommendations.' Project staff received a high volume of comments, representing diverse opinions. Some residents, on their own initiative, organized neighbor-to-neighbor meetings to have more detailed discussions, and this effort brought more participants into the process. Every comment is read, considered on its merits, and used to help craft a revised plan. Supporting information is given careful consideration. This is not a vote – it’s a process of analysis and response. The comments are used to refine or change the recommendations for management. We have compiled all comments and prepared a comment summary and table for public viewing. |
