Draft Plan Available for Review

Project Description

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough, working with Jade North, Agnew::Beck Consulting, various state agencies, and the general public, is updating a Management Plan for Borough and State land west of Wasilla (see map below). Much has changed since the original Fish Creek Management Plan, created in 1984, was passed. This update is intended to reflect the needs and policies of the Borough today. This plan will prepare policies for the development and protection of these sites. Major issues to be addressed are expected to be:

  • Agriculture
  • Timber harvests
  • Sales of land for residential development
  • Recreation and trails
  • Protection of open space and habitat
  • Extension of road network and other infrastructure

It will focus on use of Matanuska-Susitna Borough and State land, but will take into account use of affected adjoining private property. The process will include several public workshops. If you would like to be involved in the decision making process in the Fish Creek Management Area or would like to be informed on upcoming workshops please send your email address and other contact information to Tomas Jensen and we will keep you posted.
