Final Draft Management Plan

Project Description

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough, working with Jade North, Agnew::Beck Consulting, various state agencies, and the general public, updated a Management Plan for Borough and State land west of Wasilla (see map below). Much has changed since the original Fish Creek Management Plan, created in 1984, was passed. This update reflects the needs and policies of the Borough today. This plan provides policies for the development and protection of these sites. Major issues addressed are:

  • Agriculture
  • Timber harvests
  • Sales of land for residential development
  • Recreation and trails
  • Protection of open space and habitat
  • Extension of road network and other infrastructure

It focused on use of Matanuska-Susitna Borough and State land, but takes into account use of affected adjoining private property. The process included several public workshops. If you would like to learn more about the process and its outcome please contact Chris Beck.
