Galena Air Base Reuse Plan

Project Date: 2006 - 2007
Project Manager: Thea Agnew Bemben
Client: City of Galena
Location: Galena

The Galena Air Base was scheduled for closure in 2005, causing the community to lose up to one third of its workforce. The community has established the Galena Economic Development Committee (GEDC) and hired an executive director to develop a plan for the redevelopment and reuse of base facilities.

Agnew::Beck, USKH and Information Insights have been hired as a team to help the GEDC develop and present a Comprehensive Reuse Plan for the Galena Air Base. The Reuse Plan is a compilation of the components needed to ensure a viable and feasible plan for base reuse and to aid in the economic development for the community and the State of Alaska. The plan provides specific details regarding the utilization of the base facilities and includes implementation strategies.

Galena Economic Development Council has a webpage on the Galena Air Base Comprehensive Reuse Plan.
