Beach Lake Regional Park Master Plan Update
Project Date: 2009
Project Manager: Tanya Iden
Client: Municipality of Anchorage (MOA), Division of Parks + Recreation
Location: Eagle River – Chugiak - Birchwood, Alaska
Project Description
Beach Lake Regional Park, accessed off South Birchwood Loop Road in
the Chugiak-Eagle River Parks and Recreation Service Area, accounts for approximately seventy percent of the region’s municipal parkland.
The park consists of 1,750 acres including 145 acres annexed in 2007, referred to as the NW1/4, Section 25.
The Eagle River/Chugiak Parks, Recreation, and Community Development department has hired a planning team, lead by Land Design North, to update Beach Lake Park’s 1973 Plan. Agnew::Beck participates in the planning team specifically to work with community members and ensure public involvement in the preparation of the Beach Lake Regional Park Master Plan Update. The plan update will provide guidance for future recreational development and land use decisions, including for the recent park expansion. The park is clearly a major asset, offering natural, scenic, undeveloped land and a location for recreational activities in a growing and changing area of the Municipality of Anchorage.
