New Stuyahok Family Resource Center and Sub-Regional ClinicProject Date: 2002 - 2005 Project DescriptionIn December 2002, the Bristol Bay Native Association entered into a contract with Agnew::Beck Consulting to provide community and facility planning services to seven Bristol Bay communities, including New Stuyahok. During July of2004, the Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation contacted the New Stuyahok Traditional Council with a request for assistance with planning and developing a sub-regional health facility in New Stuyahok. After a number of community meetings with funding organizations and other villages in the sub-region, all parties agreed to proceed with a combined facility that houses a Family Resource Center and a sub-regional clinic. Plans for New Stuyahok's Family Resource Center have since been revised to accommodate this combined facility. A sub-regional clinic business plan was submitted to the Denali Commission for funding in November 2004. If this plan is accepted, full funding for the combined Family Resource Center/sub-regional clinic will have been secured and a schedule for the design and construction of this facility can be set. Ideally, the design process will start by spring 2005. In addition to full primary care facilities with a mid-level practitioner, the combined facility will house the Tribal Children's Service Worker, the Family Service Worker, the Community Health Representative, a SAFE apartment for emergency domestic violence shelter, a Family Learning Center, a Workforce Development Center, and the Suicide Prevention program. Funding for this facility was secured from the Indian Development Block Grant Program, USDA Rural Development, the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority, and the Denali Commission's Domestic Violence program.
