Beringia Museum of Culture and Science

Project Date: 2006 to 2008
Project Manager: Thea Agnew Bemben
Client: Kawerak, Inc.
Location: Nome

Project Description

Agnew::Beck helped Kawerak, Inc. to develop a feasibility study and business plan for the proposed Beringia Museum of Culture & Science. The focus of the center is to describe and celebrate aspects of life in Beringia - its people & culture, plants & animals, geography & climate. It is also hoped that the center will include education components such as vocational classes, youth opportunities, and research facilities. The Beringia Museum of Culture & Science idea is widely supported by communities in the region and will take advantage of strong partnerships with other local and regional entities. The results of this feasibility study include a conceptual design for the facility and an initial draft of the program design, including a first round of various alternatives for facility and programming, capital, and operational budgets.
