Beringia Museum of Culture and Science

Project Date: October 2006 to present
Project Manager: Thea Agnew Bemben
Client: Kawerak, Inc.
Location: Nome

Project Description

Agnew::Beck is helping Kawerak, Inc. to develop a feasibility study and business plan for the proposed Beringia Museum of Culture & Science. The focus of the center is to describe and celebrate aspects of life in Beringia - its people & culture, plants & animals, geography & climate. It is also hoped that the center will include education components such as vocational classes, youth opportunities, and research facilities. The Beringia Museum of Culture & Science idea is widely supported by communities in the region and will take advantage of strong partnerships with other local and regional entities. The results of this feasibility study will include conceptual design for the facility and an initial draft of the program design, including a first round of various alternatives for facility and programming, capital, and operational budgets.
