Project Description

The Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) Traffic and Planning Departments have hired a project team comprised of consultants from HDR, Alaska, Agnew::Beck and Land Design North to produce a Midtown District Plan.

The Midtown District Plan is intended to supplement the Anchorage 2020 Plan, adopted by the Municipal Assembly in 2001, as a blueprint for development in the Anchorage Bowl during the next 20 years. Anchorage 2020 recognized the status of Midtown as an important business district and one of three major employment centers. The Midtown District Plan is a vitally important step-down plan that will bridge the gap between the vision and goals set forth in Anchorage 2020 and the implementation elements necessary to make that vision a reality. The Midtown District Plan will contain specific development policies and recommendations guiding change in the Midtown area, and will emphasize short-term specific objectives based on Anchorage 2020's long-term general goals. Issues such as economic development, local transportation connectivity, parking, housing growth, and public livability will be addressed.
