Cuddy Family Midtown Park

Project Date: 1997 - present
Project Manager: Chris Beck
Location: Midtown Anchorage

The Cuddy Family Midtown Park is located in midtown Anchorage, just west of the public library. The park was established in the 1980s with an initial land dedication and has been steadily growing since then. There have been two additional parcels added to the park since 1985, bringing the current size of the park to over 15 acres. Although a master plan was approved in 1985 there were no significant improvements until 1997. The first improvements were located on the original parcel and included a deck for gathering and reading, soft surface trails, a sledding/playing hill, and landscaping with a significant number of trees, shrubs and turf areas.

The current phase will bring significant new improvements that will encompass the newly acquired 9 acres. The project will include all season multi-use trails with amenities, significant landforms to provide play and winter recreation areas, a multi-use outdoor performance pavilion and landscaping. The work in this phase is the result of the work and determination of individuals, public and private organizations to bring about a viable new park with amenities and benefits unlike any other in Anchorage.

Chris Beck has been instrumental in the progress of this project. He has helped to secure funds, has been involved in project management and has offered his consulting expertise.
