Anchorage Community Land Trust (ACLT)

Project Date: July 2008 - present
Project Manager: Thea Agnew Bemben
Location: Mountain View Anchorage

Focusing on economic development, neighborhood revitalization and supporting arts and culture in Mountain View, the Anchorage Community Land Trust (ACLT) has begun working with Agnew::Beck on four main activities:

A detailed description of the tasks follows.

Mountain View Neighborhood Plan

Working with the Mountain View Community Council and the broader community, the Anchorage Community Land Trust (ACLT) has begun a process of community engagement to build upon community work to develop the Mountain View Neighborhood Plan.

The ACLT staff will work on this process with the community and the Community Council, assisted by planners from Agnew::Beck. The ultimate goal is to clearly summarize and confirm the results from the extensive community planning work already completed, to document the progress already made toward achieving that vision and to define priority actions for the next phase of revitalization. The products of this process will be used to request funding from the Municipality to implement the vision that the community has articulated for Mountain View. Steps along the way include:

  • An extensive Community and Stakeholder Outreach process to confirm the results of earlier efforts and to identify next steps.
  • A Community Open House to share results and gain broad community input to define priority actions.
  • A graphic summary that can be shared broadly with the community and with the Assembly to gain support to implement the priority action plan

Please check the Mountain View Neighborhood Plan website for more information.

ACLT Website

The ACLT has hired Agnew::Beck, along with Fresh Art & Design, to redesign their website to reflect the current priorities of the organization and to showcase recent achievements. The website will also be used to generate interest and support for current projects and to share progress.

Mountain View Arts & Culture Center

Agnew::Beck worked with the Anchorage Community Land Trust, the community arts organization Trailer Arts Center, and the Rasmuson Foundation to develop a business plan and feasibility study for an arts and culture center to be located in Mountain View. The facility will serve artists of many disciplines from all over Anchorage, as well as provide performance and practice space for the many artists and cultural groups who call Mountain View home. Along with many other recent community improvements, this new arts and culture center will bring energy to the surrounding neighborhood.

Fundraising

Agnew::Beck is assisting the ACLT to secure funding for the before-school program at Tyson Elementary, as well as other ACLT projects, to be identified. In developing this funding proposal, Agnew::Beck will create a basic funding template that the ACLT can use as a guide for future funding proposals.
